Home Assistant’s installer adds an optional Wi-Fi step after choosing the destination drive. Raspberry Pi 3, 4 and 5, Yellow with CM5, and generic x86-64 and aarch64 computers can receive their network name and password as the image is written.

The first boot imports the settings into the operating system’s network configuration and removes the temporary configuration from the boot partition. The extracted image on the computer stays unchanged. This setup supports password-protected WPA2 and mixed WPA2/WPA3 networks; open, hidden and WPA3-only networks are outside its scope.
