Home Assistant raises its frontend minimums to Chrome 67, Safari and iOS 15.4, and Firefox 98. Browsers below those versions receive an explanation on the launch screen instead of remaining there indefinitely.

The change affects Apple devices that cannot move beyond iOS 12, including the first iPad Air and iPad mini 2 and 3. It also affects Fire tablets whose Amazon WebView remains on Chromium 59, including 2015 and 2016 models on Fire OS 5; the embedded browser matters for both the Companion app and kiosk apps.

Fire tablets with WebView 70 or newer and first-generation Chromecast devices remain above the new Chrome minimum. Yesterday’s formatting repairs did not change support requirements; these new minimums mean owners of permanently older displays need to check their browser version before upgrading.
