ESPHome adds the two-wire I²C sensor connection to Beken BK72xx boards, letting existing sensor components work on hardware that previously lacked that support. Makers choose two pins for the connection. Testing on a BK7231N board read temperature and humidity from a CHT8305 sensor using the HDC1080 component.

A related GPIO correction ensures that Beken and Realtek pins take the intended level when switching to output. That addresses a one-wire bus stuck low and improves the new software I²C bus. The I²C implementation runs in software, so transfers briefly occupy the device’s main loop and the actual clock rate is below the configured value.
