Home Assistant

Home Assistant hands Matter sharing straight to Apple Home

A direct handoff replaces copying a pairing code or reaching for a second device.

Reviewed by bgoncal, MindFreeze, NoRi2909, c0ffeeca7, frenck

Home Assistant adds an Add to Apple Home button to the Matter device-sharing dialog in its iPhone app. The button opens Apple’s setup flow on the same phone and preserves the device’s Home Assistant name, avoiding a copied code or a QR scan with another device.

Home Assistant separates a restored iPhone from the phone it copied

Choose a new device identity or deliberately replace the old phone’s registration.

A restored iPhone can carry another phone’s Home Assistant registration and sign-in, causing both phones to report as one device and letting a sign-out on one break the other. The Companion app detects that copied registration and asks whether the restored phone should become a new device or replace the old one.

Music Assistant’s phone app lets listeners choose where to search

A source picker, shared recent searches and a genre filter bring the phone’s search closer to the web player.

Music Assistant’s phone app lets listeners choose which music services to search, alongside their own library. The choice replaces the library-only switch and is shared with the web player, so moving between the two keeps the same search sources.

Home Assistant gives multi-part devices a clearer structure

MQTT outlets and supported Z-Wave components can appear beneath their parent device.

Reviewed by emontnemery, arturpragacz, TheJulianJES

Home Assistant expands child-device support to MQTT and supported multi-part Z-Wave devices, so a power strip’s outlets or an energy meter’s clamps can appear as distinct parts of the physical device. MQTT publishers can describe those parts in discovery messages or YAML, while Z-Wave uses explicit labels and groups in its device database.

Linux Voice Assistant recovers from a failed microphone

A lost audio stream no longer leaves the assistant looking online while it cannot hear anything.

Linux Voice Assistant tries to reopen its microphone after a failed audio stream, such as one caused by a computer waking from sleep, a USB interruption or an audio-server restart. Previously, the recording thread stopped while the rest of the process stayed online in Home Assistant, leaving an apparently working assistant unable to hear requests.

Home Assistant restores camera live view on Echo Show

Compatible cameras exposed through Home Assistant Cloud gain the live-view connection Alexa expects.

Reviewed by balloob, jbouwh

Home Assistant adds the camera interface Echo Show expects for live viewing through Home Assistant Cloud. Cameras could appear in Alexa while a request such as “show the porch camera” did nothing, because the older streaming interface no longer supplied the live-view path.
