Music Assistant revises the Cast streaming default covered on October 21 after it interrupted playback on older Nest speakers. A Nest Mini playing Ambient Sounds could stop after five to ten minutes with the setting chosen for the 2026 Google Home Speaker; in the reported test, the earlier setting played overnight.
The default now depends on the receiver. Most Cast devices return to HTTP Profile 3, while the 2026 Google Home Speaker, non-Google Android TV receivers, groups and stereo pairs keep Profile 2. Explicit choices are preserved. Updated troubleshooting guidance says a Cast group and its members should use the same profile.
