Music Assistant’s Playlist Metadata provider adds an AI-generated cover option for playlists that do not already have their own artwork. Ryan Macdonald connects it to an image engine supplied through a Home Assistant AI Task entity or the OpenAI Compatible plugin, with six built-in styles and a custom prompt option.
Covers are saved and reused until relevant playlist or generation settings change. A configurable hourly limit caps generation, a preview tries a style without changing a playlist, and a collage remains in place while an image is prepared or if none is produced.
A separate option writes short playlist descriptions. It starts disabled and does not replace an ordinary description supplied by the playlist’s owner.
