Home Assistant's HomeKit bridge can use a valve's integration-provided number control to set its run time, without requiring a separate number helper. A companion change lets native Home Assistant valves appear in HomeKit as faucets, shower heads, sprinklers or generic valves. Existing helper-based setups keep working.
The valve-type change is louwii17's first contribution to Home Assistant Core, with review and approval from Brett Adams and Markus Tuominen. Valves with no chosen type retain their generic appearance, and duration settings remain expressed in seconds.
