IFA Berlin is over, and the Open Home Foundation leaves its first appearance as an exhibitor with a lot to be grateful for. The foundation describes the five days as a wonderful experience: a chance to meet the people using and building its projects, spend time together, and make connections that carry beyond the show floor.

People connecting energy meters, solar inverters or heating equipment through Modbus gain a clearer view of their shared connections in Home Assistant. A new panel in Connectivity lists each physical endpoint once and shows the integrations using it, making a shared serial bus or gateway visible in one place.

Each list becomes a to-do list whose items can be created, renamed, completed or deleted, with descriptions and due dates carried alongside them. Changes sync back to the user's Apple devices.

A rewritten proposal focuses on readable version history and restoring an earlier automation while keeping later changes recoverable.
Home Assistant is shaping a way to recover a working automation after a saved edit breaks it. Niels rewrote the opportunity around a usable history and restore interface, moving it into Shaping on September 9. The proposal would let people inspect earlier versions and restore one from the automation editor, without rolling back a whole installation to recover a single automation.
Music Assistant
Direct audio links from Home Assistant and selections deep in Plex queues keep the listener's choice intact.
Music Assistant fixes two cases where asking for one piece of audio could start another. Home Assistant playback requests for a direct link no longer fall through to a name search when the user has a filter limiting their music providers. Plex Connect also keeps the selected track when it sits beyond the first 100 queue entries.
