Two devices called “Outlet 1” are easier to tell apart when each appears beneath its own power strip. Home Assistant nests device parts beneath their parent in the dashboard card editor, automation target picker and target details; parts without their own area follow the parent’s room.
The same relationship joins the default format for generated entity IDs, between the area and device name. Together, the changes keep the equipment that gives an outlet or other device part its context visible when people choose a target or identify it by name.
