Asking Alexa to change the temperature on a Nest thermostat could switch it from cooling into a combined heating-and-cooling mode and cause the new temperature to be rejected. Home Assistant stops treating Alexa’s preliminary turn-on request as a reason to change a thermostat that is already active.
Allen Porter’s fix preserves the current mode before the temperature request arrives. Turning on a thermostat that is actually off keeps its existing behavior.
